Land protection is an integral component of land use and transportation. It directs growth to where the infrastructure already exists and thus reduces the amount of tax dollars needed for new and expanded roads. And land protection can take place much more quickly than building roads, which can take many years and even decades to complete. This allows the public to see the results of their tax dollars at work in a timelier fashion, which builds trust.
